What is soluble filament?

Soluble filament is used as a support material for 3D prints with complex geometries. It supports overhangs, internal cavities and delicate areas during printing. After the print is complete, it can be dissolved with the appropriate medium. This lets you remove the support without breaking, cutting or sanding it away. The result is a cleaner underside and more freedom when designing your model.

To use soluble filament, you need a printer that can print multiple materials at the same time, such as a machine with a dual extruder or a multimaterial system.

Why choose BVOH or HIPS?

BVOH dissolves in water and is used as a support material for, among others, PLA and PETG. BVOH is sensitive to moisture, so it should be stored in a dry place. HIPS dissolves in limonene and is the classic support partner for ABS. It can also be printed on its own when you want to use HIPS as the model material.
