What is PLA + CF?

Fiberlogy PLA + CF is PLA filament reinforced with carbon fibres. The fibres make the material stiffer and more dimensionally stable than standard PLA. At the same time, it remains as accessible to print as the PLA you already know. This makes PLA + CF a practical choice when you want functional properties without giving up the familiar ease of PLA.

The material has a matte, technical-looking surface. This finish makes the individual layer lines less noticeable than they are on a glossier surface. It gives printed parts a clean, purposeful appearance that works well for functional components and technical prototypes.

Why choose PLA + CF?

Choose PLA + CF when your application calls for more stiffness and dimensional stability than standard PLA can provide. You can work with the familiar printing characteristics of PLA while creating parts and constructions with a more technical feel. The matte finish also helps make the visible print structure look more understated.

Carbon fibres are abrasive. For this reason, use a hardened nozzle, such as one made from hardened steel, when printing this filament. This prepares your printer for the abrasive nature of the reinforcement.

Applications

  • Stiff parts and frames
  • Brackets and holders
  • Drone and RC components
  • Prototypes with a technical appearance
