If you want to watch the pennies and still enjoy the highest quality filament, Fiberlogy refill filament might be something for you. This “spool-less” (is that a word?) filament is slightly cheaper than filament on a spool, but simply meets the highest quality you are used to from Fiberlogy. How about +/- 0.02 mm diameter tolerance and 0.01 mm roundness tolerance. All the ease of printing and the best results for a few euros less! And with a nod to the environment — sounds pretty good!

The Masterspool standard

A loose, long coiled strand of filament obviously cannot simply be hung on the filament holder of your printer. In no time at all you would have a bunch of spaghetti the local Italian on the corner would be jealous of. No: Fiberlogy was, as 1 of the first filament manufacturers in the world, the one to start producing refill filament for the free-to-use Masterspool project by RichRap. You can print this spool yourself and place the Fiberlogy refill filament in it. Ideal! On the Thingiverse website this open-source spool can be downloaded.

But I like that Fiberlogy spool so much

We understand that all too well. In fact, it really is a premium product you get in your hands when you open the box and take out the beautiful, gently curved white spool. If you are reasonably handy, you can still benefit from Fiberlogy refill filament without having to give up your Fiberlogy spool.

A loyal visitor/customer/friend of 3D Fanshop, Marcel Dooijewaard, has in fact found a way, entirely on his own initiative, to reuse the Fiberlogy spool.
