The transport sector is also experiencing a great deal of disruption from the virus. A worldwide shortage has arisen of raw materials for PLA filament, the so-called granulate pellets. These products mostly come from Asia. There, strict measures apply to import and export. This makes it very difficult to get the raw materials to the filament manufacturers. The same goes for Fiberlogy. 

On top of that, a great deal of PLA has been used to produce face shields and other aids for healthcare, for example. The 3D printing community has shown its best side worldwide and has stepped in wherever it could. Countless initiatives have been set up to do their bit to combat the virus.

These 2 causes unfortunately mean that it is very difficult to produce PLA filament. You see this reflected at virtually every manufacturer. It is very annoying that stocks are running out and that shortages are therefore arising. The manufacturer is also struggling with the situation, and unfortunately no one can be held responsible for this.

Our PLA filament range

In our PLA range too, you will see more and more items that are temporarily unavailable to order. We have a backorder with the manufacturer, who in turn is doing everything possible to deliver as quickly as possible. The outlook now is that production will get going again at the beginning of July and that deliveries can resume shortly afterwards. It is extra annoying because our webshop has been online for exactly one month now and we are being confronted with these shortages.

PETG filament, a great alternative

We have a great alternative to PLA filament, and that is our Easy PETG filament from Fiberlogy. This filament is somewhat more heat resistant and has a higher impact strength. Thanks to the formula of Easy PETG, this filament prints just as easily as PLA. That way you have all the advantages of PETG and yet the same successes you are used to from printing with PLA. 

For the time being we still have quite a few colours of Fiberlogy Easy PLA filament in stock, but unfortunately, as mentioned, these cannot be replenished at the moment. The availability of the colours differs from day to day, so sold out means sold out for now. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we are doing everything we can to offer a complete range again as soon as possible.

Fiberlogy FiberSilk Metallic, coming soon

By way of compensation and as an extension, we will shortly be adding the entire Fiberlogy FiberSilk Metallic filament line to our range. This silk-gloss filament is a feast for the eyes and has a wonderfully attractive appearance. Fiberlogy recently added 3 more versions to the already extensive FiberSilk range, namely Pearl, Copper and Gold. Keep an eye on the website, because they are on their way to us. We cannot wait.
