Easy PETG, R PETG or Fill 3D PETG?

This is our standard PETG: glossy, without a matte additive and without carbon or glass fibre. What PETG is and how it compares to PCTG is explained on the overview page PETG & PCTG filament. Here we compare the three lines.

Fiberlogy Easy PETG

Easy PETG was developed to reduce the well-known drawbacks of PETG, such as stringing and inconsistent adhesion. As a result, it prints almost as easily as PLA. The diameter tolerance is ± 0.02 mm and the roundness tolerance 0.01 mm. Choose from solid colours, soft pastel shades and transparent colours such as bottle green, burgundy and Pure Transparent. Black also comes on a 2.5 kg spool, and a few colours are available in 2.85 mm.

R PETG: recycled

R PETG is made from 100% recycled PETG, from selected and verified sources. It prints just as easily as Easy PETG, but at a lower temperature: 210–230 °C with a bed of 50–70 °C.

Fill 3D PETG: our own brand

Fill 3D PETG is a good-value, reliable PETG on 0.5 and 1 kg spools. The colours are based on the RAL system, and there are many transparent colours. You can even print it without a heated bed; in that case, use 3DLAC adhesive spray.

Refill or 2.85 mm?

A refill is filament without a spool, which you mount on a reusable Fiberlogy Masterspool. That saves waste and an empty spool. A refill does not fit straight into an AMS or holder without a spool. PETG in 2.85 mm is meant for printers that use that diameter, such as many older Ultimaker models.

Printing PETG: the settings

  • Nozzle: 230–250 °C for Easy PETG, 210–230 °C for R PETG, 230–260 °C for Fill 3D PETG.
  • Print bed: 90 °C for Easy PETG. For Fill 3D PETG the range per colour is listed with the product.
  • Adhesion: on a smooth PEI sheet, use glue stick or adhesive spray as a release layer.
  • Cooling: around 30–50%. More cooling weakens the bond between layers.

Standard PETG: pros and cons

Pros

  • Strong and tough, for parts that get used
  • The widest choice of colours, including transparent and pastel
  • Better value than PETG Matte, PCTG and the reinforced types

Cons

  • Glossy surface: layer lines show more than with PETG Matte
  • Less impact-resistant than PCTG

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the difference between Easy PETG and regular PETG?

    Easy PETG is PETG from Fiberlogy that has been tuned for ease of printing: less stringing and more even adhesion. Its material properties are those of PETG. It prints at 230–250 °C, slightly cooler than many other PETG.

  • Can I print PETG without a heated bed?

    With Fill 3D PETG you can: for those spools the bed range starts at 0 °C. Do use 3DLAC adhesive spray. Fiberlogy Easy PETG is printed on a bed of 90 °C.

  • How transparent is transparent PETG?

    Transparent PETG lets a lot of light through, but a print never becomes as clear as glass: every layer refracts the light a little. It works well for lampshades, vases and diffusers. For the clearest print, look at PCTG, which is clearer. Read more in PCTG vs PETG.

  • What is a Masterspool?

    The Masterspool is a reusable spool from Fiberlogy. You clip a refill onto it: a coil of filament without a spool. That way you only buy the spool once.

  • Which PETG fits the Bambu Lab AMS?

    Most Easy PETG on a spool and part of Fill 3D PETG are suitable for the AMS. Refills, the 2.5 kg spool and 2.85 mm do not fit. Each product states whether it is suitable.
