What does the fibre do?

Short fibres in the filament make the material stiffer and reduce shrinkage as it cools. As a result, a print warps less and stays truer to size.

  • ABS + GF – ABS with glass fibre: stiff and dimensionally stable, for parts that have to keep their shape.
  • ASA + AF – ASA with aramid fibre: tough and wear-resistant, and like plain ASA resistant to UV light and weather, so suitable for outdoor use.

Printing tips

Fibres wear out a brass nozzle quickly, so use a hardened nozzle, for example one made of hardened steel. Print on a heated bed and preferably in an enclosed printer.
