What is ABS?

Fiberlogy ABS is a proven filament for FDM 3D printing. It is one of the classic engineering plastics that helped make FDM printing widely used, and it remains a reliable choice when you need functional parts with a sturdy character. The range includes standard ABS as well as specialised options for different projects.

ABS is particularly useful when strength, heat resistance and easy post-processing matter. For parts that will be used outdoors and exposed to sunlight, ASA is the better choice. You can find that material on its own category page.

Why choose ABS?

ABS is strong and withstands more heat than PLA. This makes it suitable for technical parts and enclosures that may face more demanding conditions during use. Once printed, ABS can be sanded, drilled or glued. You can also smooth the surface with acetone vapour when that finish is right for your project.

ABS prints best in an enclosed 3D printer. It is therefore a good match for functional projects where performance and the option to refine the finished part are more important than a purely decorative result.

Applications

  • Technical parts and enclosures
  • Components that need to withstand heat
  • Models intended for post-processing
  • Functional prototypes and development parts
  • Work around sensitive electronics with ABS ESD

The range

The Fiberlogy range includes classic ABS colours such as beige, black, white, grey, graphite, inox, onyx, blue, navy blue, bordeaux, green, light green, orange, red and yellow. Easy ABS is available in transparent bordeaux, light green, navy blue and orange.

For more specialised requirements, ABS ESD offers electrostatic dissipative properties for work around sensitive electronics. ABS+GF is reinforced with glass fibre and available in black and grey. PC/ABS is a blend that combines ABS with polycarbonate. Most of the range is suitable for the Bambu Lab AMS.
