What is nylon PA12?
Fiberlogy Nylon PA12 is a technical filament based on polyamide 12. It is designed for parts that need to withstand more than a standard filament in everyday use. The material is tough, resilient and wear-resistant, making it suitable for functional applications involving moving or heavily loaded components.
Like other nylon materials, PA12 is sensitive to moisture. It absorbs less moisture than many other types of nylon, but it should still be stored dry. Dry the spool before printing to achieve the best results.
Why choose nylon PA12?
PA12 is a suitable choice when a part needs to do more than simply look good. Its combination of toughness and resilience supports parts that move, snap into place or are repeatedly loaded. Low friction is useful for contact surfaces and moving connections, while its wear resistance helps components withstand regular rubbing against other parts.
This makes PA12 a versatile technical filament for both functional prototypes and practical end-use parts. When extra stiffness is needed, reinforced carbon-fibre and glass-fibre variants are also available. These materials are listed together on the “Nylon + CF / GF” page.
Applications
